FRAME CHARACTERISTICS

The rockD is the carabiner of choice when seeking the highest strength in a standard-sized aluminum frame. The rockD carabiner serves the broadest range of specialized uses. The rockD in non-lanyard versions features a flattened shape with an i-beam profile at the bottom and top bends, giving the carabiner a sleek profile, while providing low weight and high strength characteristics.

SCREW-LOCK

GATE MECHANISM

Two important features make the Rock Exotica Screw-lock unique from all others. First, all aluminum parts are anodized. This is particularly important for the screw-sleeve and gate, since without this coating, it is more susceptible to corrosion. This protective surface also gives the sleeve a smoother spin.

Second, the gate was designed with an enlarged flange at the top. This prevents the screw-sleeve from moving past the end of the gate, whereas with other designs, the sleeve can wear past the last thread of the gate and slip off.

AUTO-LOCK

GATE MECHANISM

The 3-stage Autolocking carabiner features a pull-down and twist action — a motion that’s more intuitive and natural for your hand than lifting up and away from your palm.

We identified several surfaces where ropes and lanyards can be held up by the edges of the gate and sleeve, which can lead to dangerous cross-loading. The auto-lock gate sleeve is designed with beveled edges to minimize this risk and provide a smoother interior for interaction with the materials connected to the carabiner.

UP-LOCK

GATE MECHANISM

The 3-stage Up-Lock carabiner features a PUSH-UP and twist action.

ORCA-LOCK

GATE MECHANISM

The ORCA is an enhanced 3-stage mechanism available on Pirate, rockD and rockO carabiners. This unique gate system lifts up and twists just like many traditional auto-locks, but can be set to remain in the unlocked position. This allows the gate—whether you attach the ORCA carabiner immediately, or leave it installed in an anchor to connect a line later, to open easily, just like a non-locker. When it closes, it closes and rotates shut with the safety and surety of a locking carabiner.

TWIST-LOCK

GATE MECHANISM

The Twist-lock (2-stage) carabiner, is a quick-detachable alternative to a screwlock or 3-stage autolocker. Requiring only a twist in the sleeve to open, it makes for an ideal locking carabiner to use in situations where equipment or personnel require rapid deployment or disconnection. In fall protection situations where the carabiner is repeatedly attached and detached, the twistlock can save time and help prevent hand fatigue by shortening the steps to disconnect.

Note that by nature, the twistlock carabiner is more easily opened unintentionally than a 3-stage Autolock or Screwlock. Proper training and adherence to safety standards for your industry is required.

LANYARD PIN

SPECIALIZED CARABINER

The rockD Lanyard Pin is a specialized carabiner designed for attachment to lanyards or hardware to prevent cross loading of the gate. Our exclusive design enables the lanyard pin to be removed, allowing the user to attach the carabiner to any object. Offered in 3-stage, auto-lock version only.

ROCK 'D'

STAINLESS

The rockD Stainless is the right choice for a strong, compact carabiner, tough enough to hold up in the harshest of environments. The narrow, asymmetric "D" shape concentrates the load along the spine, which maximizes the strength of the carabiner along the major axis.

Not only is the frame made from stainless steel, but also the components within the carabiner. Each piece will resist corrosion far beyond the equivalent materials found in other non-stainless carabiners.
